Eden Farms was established in 1983 in Queensland at Highfields. Initially a cut flower operation using the emerging technology we now know as ‘hydroponics’.
This exciting new technology offered benefits in vegetable production. Eden Farms imported the first Continental Cucumber seeds from Europe in 1984. After Greenhouse trials the produce was marketed in Queensland through the Brisbane Rocklea Markets.
Eden Farms were the first suppliers of Continental Cucumber on the Eastern coast of Australia.
The Continental Cucumber was an enormous success with Queensland house holds so Eden Farms continued to introduce more plants to their operation until they outgrew the Highfields location and moved to their present Hampton location.
Eventually wanting to further expand their growing area to supply good quality Continental Cucumbers year round in 1990 an additional horticulture operation was established at Moore Park Bundaberg.
